Home-Improvement Wood blinds are very elegant and provide sophistication to any room in the house. These blinds were manufactured and designed so as to resist dust which means there is no need to clean them regularly. They should be cleaned every quarter or semester so that they would look attractive and would function well. When cleaning them, it just needs certain cleaning supplies and a little physical effort. Here are tips in cleaning these blinds. To wash these blinds made of wood, you must lay them down on an old sheet, newspapers or a drop cloth so as to prevent dust or dirt falling on to the floor. The blinds should then be lowered and its slats closed. The dust on them should then be removed using a horizontal brush for blinds, an old sock or a dusting matt. Dust must be removed beginning at the top and each slat must be dusted individually followed by the entire set. A liquid fabric softener should be used to clean blinds that are very dusty. Get a paintbrush with clean and soft bristles that are of the same size with the wood slats. The brush should be dipped in the fabric softener and then its excess moisture should be removed by blotting it with a cloth. Each slat must be wiped with this brush starting at the top and then sideways. The slats must be dried using a clean and dry cloth. The blinds should then be rinsed with clean water. The slats should be removed of water with a slightly damp microfiber cloth or mitt. The blinds should be wiped gently sideways beginning at the top. They must then be dried immediately using a clean and soft rag. The wood blinds must not get too wet because too much moisture would lead to warping and discoloration. The next step it to polish the blinds using a dab of furniture wax placed on a cloth. Each slat should be rubbed with this. Make sure to utilize wax on blinds that are clean because dirt would be sealed in. Another way in cleaning wooden blinds is to pour one-fourth cup olive oil in a small bowl containing warm water. This should be mixed well using a big spoon or the hands. The blinds must then be taken down gently and then placed on a clean towel. The microfiber cloth should then be dipped inside the olive oil mixture. Excess moisture should then be wrung out. The cloth should then be rubbed on each slat from the top to the bottom until the desired result is achieved. The blinds must then be dried and then hung back. If olive oil is not available, you can wipe the slats with a vaguely damp microfiber cloth not containing polish. To keep the dust away, the wooden blinds must be wiped weekly using a dryer sheet. To protect it from too much moisture as you clean windows, place spraying glass cleaner on a clean cloth rather than on the glass. Before using water on the blinds, it is best to read instructions from the manufacturer. It is re.mended not to use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on wood blinds as the wood may warp, discolor or scratch. About the Author: 相关的主题文章:
